Our Mission

The Sharpened Athlete develops athletes through customized and rigorous training programs to advance both physical and cognitive performance. The Sharpened Athlete is committed to understanding each athlete’s individual needs and catering training to develop them as complete players.

Patrick began his coaching and teaching careers in Prince George’s County Maryland. He took High Point High School Girls’ Varsity Soccer to multiple top four finishes in the region and developed the first three all-state players in school history.  Patrick was elected Prince George’s County Girls Soccer Director and Secretary of Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer (MACS).  He was chosen multiple times to coach the County All-Star game and one time to the Girls’ All-State Game.

In 2012, Patrick returned to New York to be closer to his family. Upon returning, he began working as the Director of Coaching for Happy Feet and Legends of Long Island where he focused on early childhood soccer programming, team training, and supplemental training.  In 2013, he returned to teaching in the New York City Department of Education. In 2018, he was named New York State Adapted Physical Education Teacher.  During this time, he was an Age Group Coordinator for Manhattan Soccer Club where he helped develop some of the best youth teams in the state.  From July 2019 to August 2020, Patrick was the National Director of Coaching for Soccer Stars United, based in NYC, where he oversaw the curriculum and development of 30+ teams, 20+ coaches, and 400+ players.

Patrick noticed that typical team, group, and individual training lacked teaching cognitive and mental skills.  He launched The Sharpened Athlete in 2015 to create an intense and positive atmosphere where players are encouraged to take high-level risks, bounce back after failure, and be able to make quick and effective decisions under pressure.
